About us

Operators who have been on the other side of this table.

Metacogni is deliberately small and deliberately senior. Everyone here has built, funded, or governed a technology company — usually more than one, and usually including at least one that did not work.

Founder

Jordan Ellis

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Jordan founded Metacogni after two decades split between engineering leadership and early-stage investing, and after watching the same pattern repeat in both seats: capable teams executing precisely against a plan nobody had re-examined. He previously led platform engineering at a data infrastructure company through its Series A to acquisition, then spent six years investing in and advising pre-seed technical founders. He writes the assessment memo for every company that comes through the diagnostic.

Leadership

The people you will actually work with.

There is no separate delivery team. The executives listed here run engagements personally, which is the main constraint on how many companies we take on.

Priya Raghavan

Chief Investment Officer

Priya leads investment strategy, diligence, and portfolio construction. She spent nine years on the investment team at a multi-stage venture firm, where she led seed and Series A rounds in developer tooling and applied AI, and served on eleven boards.

LinkedIn

Marcus Oyelaran

Chief Technology Officer

Marcus runs the research and development bench. He has built machine learning platforms at consumer scale and shipped regulated software in healthcare, and is unusually good at telling founders which half of their architecture is premature.

LinkedIn

Sofia Lindqvist

Head of Advisory

Sofia matches founders to advisors and owns the quality of every advisory engagement. She was previously a chief operating officer at two venture-backed companies and led the operating partner practice at a growth-stage fund.

LinkedIn

Daniel Whitfield

Managing Director, CFO Practice

Daniel leads fractional CFO engagements and tax strategy. A former public-company controller turned startup finance lead, he has taken four companies through their first audit and considerably more through their first serious board deck.

LinkedIn

Aisha Nakamura

Head of Program & Operational Delivery

Aisha installs the operating cadence inside portfolio companies. She spent a decade running technical program management across infrastructure and platform organizations, and specializes in the first hundred days after a strategy is agreed.

LinkedIn

Tomás Herrera

Head of Talent & Executive Search

Tomás runs board and executive search. He built the recruiting function at two high-growth startups before moving to retained search, and insists on writing the role definition before opening a single conversation with a candidate.

Board of directors

Governance that predates the need for it.

We built a real board early, with independent directors who have no economic reason to agree with us. It is the same advice we give every company we work with.

Eleanor Voss

Board Chair

Eleanor has chaired the boards of three technology companies through growth financings and two exits. She focuses on governance design and the quality of the questions a board is capable of asking.

Rajiv Menon

Independent Director

Rajiv spent his career in enterprise software, most recently as president of a publicly traded infrastructure business. He advises on go-to-market strategy and enterprise sales motions across the portfolio.

Grace Okafor

Independent Director

Grace is a securities and technology attorney who has advised founders and funds through more than two hundred financings. She chairs the audit and compliance committee.

Thomas Bergström

Venture Partner & Board Observer

Thomas founded and sold two developer-tools companies and now invests independently at pre-seed. He works most closely with technical founders in the first six months after formation.

Careers

We hire slowly, and almost always from people we have worked with.

If you are a senior operator, investor, or engineer who wants to work across a portfolio rather than inside one company, we would like to hear from you — even when nothing is posted.

Meet the people, not the pitch.

The first conversation is with whoever would actually run your engagement. That is the entire point.
